M. Sc. Nursing Programme

Modern nursing is a dynamic, therapeutic and educative process in meeting the health needs of individuals, the family and the community. It includes both independent and collaborative functioning with the interdisciplinary health care team. Since Nurses provide and will undoubtedly continue to provide with unflinching commitment to a larger part of the health care, their training should equip them with professional expertise to meet the changing demands of society and their expanding role. So, Master of nursing will enrich the knowledge of a professional graduate to fulfill the societal needs and demands.

DURATION

Duration of the course shall be TWO years.

ELLIGIBILITY

  • Only women candidates are eligible to apply for the M.SC (N) programme.
  • Candidate seeking admission shall have:
    • Passed B.Sc.Nursing (Basic) or Post Basic B.Sc.Nursing degree or Post Certificate B.Sc. Nursing of S.N.D.T Women’s University Mumbai, or any other university accepted as equivalent to SNDT Women’s University.
    • Minimum of one years of experience after obtaining B.Sc. Nursing (Basic), in a hospital or in Nursing educational institution or in community health setting. For candidates with Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing degree no such experience is needed after graduation.
    • Registered in State Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife.
    • Candidates in service should apply through proper channel.
  • Student who takes admission for the first time to the S.N.D.T Women’s University shall have to fill in the eligibility from on admission with a fee. All admission is provisional till the eligibility is approved by the university.

The following original certificates together with the attested copies should be submitted with the eligibility form.

  • B.Sc(N) Degree or Pc. B.Sc(N) degree.
  • Marksheet of the B .Sc(N) Degree or Pc. B.Sc(N) degree exam.
  • Migration certificate from the University.

Criteria for Admission to M.Sc. Nursing

  • (2 years, English medium) with 4 specialties:
    • Medical –Surgical Nursing
    • Community Health Nursing
    • Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing
    • Child Health Nursing.
  • Have passed B.Sc. Nursing degree (Basic/ Post basic) recognized by any University under the Govt. of India and INC.
  • Must be a registered nurse and a registered midwife.
  • Have minimum 1 year experience after obtaining Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree, in hospitals or nursing educational institutions or community health setting needed after graduation.
  • For Post Basic B. Sc. Nursing no such experience is needed after graduation.

Method of Selection & Admission:

  • The entire eligible candidate will be required to appear a personal interview.
  • Candidate must bring all original certificates, mark sheets and necessary relevant document on the day of interview.
