Asian Institute of Nursing Education, the first private Nursing Institute in North East India, was founded by the pioneering leader, the esteemed Founder of Affordable Health Mission, eminent Neurologist and Chairman cum Managing Director of GNRC Hospital, Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah. Dr. N. C. Borah's vision to cultivate top-tier nursing professionals dedicated to community well-being came to fruition with the establishment of the B.Sc. Nursing course at AINE in 2004 under Institute of Neurological Sciences Trust (INS), Guwahati.(The B.Sc. Nursing  is an undergraduate degree programme of 4 years duration leading to degree of Science in Nursing.The aim of the course is to prepare the students to function as responsible health team members with competencies for first level positions in the hospital, community and diverse arena of nursing practice.)

As the first private Nursing Institute in North East India, AINE's commitment to impart quality education is underscored by its recognition from the Indian Nursing Council and the Assam Nursing Council. Furthermore, the institute's affiliation with SNDT Women’s University(5 stars NAAC accredited),the first Women’s University in India and having All India Jurisdiction for affiliation, further solidifies its dedication to excellence in nursing education. In 2009, AINE initiated the M.Sc. Nursing course (An MSc in Nursing, or Master of Science in Nursing, is a postgraduate degree program of 2 years designed for registered nurses (RNs) who wish to advance their careers and expertise in the field of nursing. It typically offers specialized training in areas such as advanced clinical practice, nursing leadership and management, nursing education, nursing research, or a specific nursing specialty) under the same University, offering speciality subjects including Medical Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing, and Community Health Nursing. Following this milestone, in 2011, the institute expanded its offerings with the commencement of the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing course (A P.B.B.Sc Nursing  is an undergraduate nursing program of two years designed for registered nurses (RNs) who have already completed a diploma or certificate program in nursing. It allows registered nurses to further their education and earn a bachelor's degree in nursing.) under Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam. In 2018, Adding to its list of accomplishments, the Institute achieved another significant milestone by introducing the ground breaking "Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care" course (A Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Critical Care is a two-year residential program during which advanced practice nurses specialize in delivering advanced care to critically ill patients within intensive care units (ICUs) or similar critical care environments. Nurse Practitioners in Critical Care have typically completed graduate-level education and advanced training in critical care nursing. They are responsible for ensuring competency in patient selection and discharge from ICU, identifying problems through assessment, administering medication or therapies, educating patients on therapeutics usage, understanding therapeutic interactions, evaluating outcomes, and managing complications and adverse reactions.) for the very first time in North East India. Building upon this success, AINE commenced the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course (GNM is a diploma program of three years duration in nursing that focuses on preparing students to become general nurses and midwives. It focuses on equipping students with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel as competent nurses and midwives) in October 2022.

AINE is born to re-design the future of young minds by exploring and sharpening their hidden talents. Alongside our rigorous academic curriculum, research endeavours, and clinical experiences, AINE values the engagement of students in a diverse array of extracurricular pursuits, such as volunteering for social causes, participating in sports, joining music clubs, exploring fine arts, and more. Students are encouraged to undertake different programs under National Service Scheme (NSS). It fosters a robust ethical mind set and cultivates a spirit of altruism towards society, embodying the core essence of the nursing profession. As part of NSS activities, students participate in awareness programmes on various issues such as Blood Donation Camps, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, visit to orphanage and old age homes to offer Health literacy programs, etc.    

 To engage and encourage students to participate and showcase their talents AINE organises a college fest, Calantha. There are multiple cultural events, technical fests, celebrity performances and other activities that contribute to the development and knowledge of a student. AINE also organises State level Intercollegiate Debate Competition  every year on the occasion of its Graduation Day.

AINE boasts an unbroken streak of 100 percent pass rates across all disciplines since its establishment. Our students consistently achieve top ranks in university examinations year after year. To honor academic excellence, a cash award of Rs. 25,000 along with a certificate of recognition is bestowed upon the highest achiever in the annual university examination among AINE students.

The institute has managed to maintain a 100% placement record for its students since its inception.AINE is dedicated to assist students in achieving long-term professional success by providing appropriate resources and guidance . Our alumni hold diverse roles such as Staff Nurses, Nursing Tutors, Community Health Officers, Nurse Educators, and Nurse Practitioners, serving in positions at both State and Central Government institutions. Additionally, they secure positions in renowned organizations in India and abroad. It shows a comprehensive approach to preparing students for a variety of career paths in the nursing field.

Our students have secured positions in prestigious institutes such as AIIMS New Delhi, Asia Heart Foundation Mumbai, Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital Mumbai, Max Hospital New Delhi, Tata Hospital Kolkata, and RIMS Manipur, among others. Locally, they have joined institutions like GMCH, ESIC Hospital, Government Nursing Colleges of Assam, all private Nursing Colleges of Assam, and numerous other government and private nursing institutes. Additionally, upon completing the course, 99% of our graduates transition directly to employment at our parent hospital, GNRC Hospitals Ltd. Furthermore, at the parent hospital, GNRC, Nurse Practitioners are provided with a starting salary of Rs. 45,000.
